Hello! I'm Dr. Kusal Tennakoon
I am a roboticist and mechanical engineer with a PhD specializing in robotics. My work focuses on computer vision, machine learning, and real-time localization for autonomous systems.
My doctoral research at Memorial University of Newfoundland investigated vision-based navigation in GPS-denied environments, integrating visual place recognition, loop closure detection, and landmark extraction from satellite imagery.
I currently work as an Engineer at the Harsh Environment Technology & Digital Research Center (HET&DRC) at the American Bureau of Shipping, developing advanced perception and sensing systems for harsh environments.
